On International School Meals Day, renowned chef and humanitarian José Andrés announced a major new initiative by World Central Kitchen (WCK) to provide locally sourced, nutritious meals to schoolchildren in Haiti. In partnership with Summits Education, Mary’s Meals, Acceso, and the Haiti Food System Alliance, WCK will be serving 85,000 meals daily across more than 300 schools during the 2025 school year. This effort not only ensures that thousands of children receive healthy meals but also strengthens Haiti’s food systems by prioritizing local ingredients and empowering farmers and producers.
Chef Andrés shared the deep connection between WCK and Haiti, recalling that the organization’s mission to use food as a tool for healing and resilience began in Haiti 15 years ago. “Haiti is more than just a country where we work—it is where our mission started,” he said. Since its founding in 2010, WCK has consistently responded to crises in Haiti, from natural disasters to food insecurity, always prioritizing community-driven solutions.
This latest initiative reflects WCK’s long-standing commitment to Haiti’s future, moving beyond emergency relief to invest in sustainable, long-term food security. By working with local partners and supporting Haitian farmers, the program is creating a model where school meals not only nourish students but also help build a stronger, more resilient food system. Chef Andrés expressed his excitement for what this partnership will achieve, reinforcing WCK’s dedication to ensuring that no child in Haiti goes hungry.
World Central Kitchen Lanse Nouvo Pwogram Manje Lekòl an Ayiti
Nan Jounen Entènasyonal Manje Lekòl, chèf ak imanitè José Andrés anonse yon nouvo inisyativ World Central Kitchen (WCK) pran pou bay timoun lekòl an Ayiti manje ki nitritif epi ki fèt ak pwodwi lokal. An patenarya ak Summits Education, Mary’s Meals, Acceso, ak Haiti Food System Alliance, WCK ap bay 85,000 manje chak jou nan plis pase 300 lekòl pandan ane lekòl 2025 la. Efò sa a pa sèlman asire ke plizyè milye timoun jwenn bon manje, men li ede tou ranfòse sistèm alimantè a an Ayiti lè li mete aksan sou itilizasyon pwodwi lokal yo epi sipòte kiltivatè ak pwodiktè ayisyen yo.
Depi 2010, WCK toujou reponn prezan nan moman kriz an Ayiti, soti nan katastwòf natirèl rive nan pwoblèm ensekirite alimantè, toujou ak yon apwòch ki mete kominote yo an premye.
Nouvo inisyativ sa a montre angajman WCK pou lavni Ayiti, li pa sèlman konsantre sou èd ki ijan men li vle envesti nan sekirite alimantè dirab ak alontèm. Avèk kolaborasyon patnè lokal yo ak sipò pou kiltivatè ayisyen yo, pwogram nan ap mete sou pye yon modèl kote manje lekòl yo pa sèlman bay timoun yo nitrisyon, men li ede tou bati yon pi bon sistèm alimantè ki pi solid ak rezistan. Chèf Andrés eksprime lajwa li pou sa patenarya sa a pral reyalize, pandan l mete aksan sou angajman WCK pou asire ke pa gen yon sèl timoun ann Ayiti ki rete grangou.
