- Cement, leverage, and strengthen partnerships among 15 organizations working across diverse aspects of food system and value chains development including research, training, production, and feeding.
- Improve nutrition of thousands of children in schools, hospitals and vulnerable rural communities through locally sourced production in strategic value chains.
- Improve the incomes of thousands of rural farming households and women through increased distribution and purchasing of local production in strategic value chains.
- Improve competitiveness, profitability, and sustainability of five or more agricultural value chains by using applied research, leveraging existing operations, and cementing market access.
Approach
The Alliance will work on parallel tracks on structural, governance and organizational activities, while also driving service delivery, production, and operational activities. More specifically, the Alliance activities to achieve objectives and goals include:
- Invest in production, marketing and feeding activities in strategic value chains (corn, cassava, beans, eggs, and peanuts) to rapidly improve nutrition for children in schools, hospitals and vulnerable rural communities.
- Invest in and continue to improve strategic value chains (corn, cassava, beans, eggs, and peanuts) through applied research, testing and production supported by Alliance partners to drive income improvements for rural farming households.
- Support, improve and expand partnerships and alignment, developing shared tools, indicators, planning and programming.
