Dear HFSA Community,
It is with great honor and deep commitment that I welcome you to the very first edition of the Haiti Food System Alliance (HFSA) newsletter. As the Executive Director, I am proud to stand alongside a coalition of dedicated organizations and individuals who share a common vision: transforming Haiti’s food systems by empowering local farmers, strengthening communities, and fostering sustainable growth.
At HFSA, our mission is clear, we strive to build a resilient and inclusive agricultural sector that not only feeds the nation but also uplifts the very people who cultivate its land. Our alliance is built on the principles of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, and our collective efforts have already made a significant impact. With the collaboration of our 14 member organizations, we have provided food to over 70,000 children, supported 40,000 farmers, sustained 1,200 food systems jobs, and aggregated over $2 million in local farmer production. These numbers reflect the dedication of our members, but more importantly, they highlight the real lives being changed through our work.
Yet, we recognize that our journey is just beginning. Haiti is facing significant challenges, and many of our communities continue to endure hardships that threaten food security and economic stability. Now more than ever, we must unite our expertise, resources, and passion to drive systemic change. HFSA must serve as a lighthouse for the agricultural sector, a beacon of hope and a model for resilience. Our work is not just about improving food systems; it is about shaping a future where farmers thrive, children are nourished, and communities flourish.
The strength of our alliance lies in the power of collaboration. By working together: farmers, organizations, and supporters, we can build a sustainable and prosperous agricultural sector that will benefit generations to come. HFSA is not just an organization; it is a movement, and every individual who contributes to this mission is an essential part of its success.
