Dacheline Joseph, winner of the Chanpyon Lakay 2025 competition, is an entrepreneur with a deep passion for livestock farming, particularly beekeeping. Recognizing the high demand for honey in Haiti and the lack of knowledge among beekeepers regarding modern and hygienic production methods, she founded Univers Apicole. “My goal is to produce quality honey and beeswax while providing training and support to other beekeepers,” she explains.
Through Univers Apicole, Dacheline is promoting modern beekeeping practices in Haiti, contributing to environmental conservation by enhancing biodiversity through pollination. Her initiative also has a significant economic impact, creating jobs and boosting the local honey market. However, she faces several challenges, including difficulty accessing funding, environmental issues such as deforestation and drought, and political instability, which hinders the growth of her business.
Her victory in the Chanpyon Lakay competition, an annual initiative organized by CLE Haiti to support young Haitian entrepreneurs and social innovators, is a major opportunity for her enterprise. Chanpyon Lakay identifies and rewards young leaders from across Haiti who are implementing innovative solutions to address community challenges. Through this competition, Dacheline not only gained visibility for Univers Apicole but also received mentorship, capacity-building support, and the chance to access funding to help scale her project. “This competition not only provides coaching support, but it also increases visibility for our business and offers the hope of securing grants to expand our production,” she states. With this recognition, she aims to scale up honey production, improve packaging, and build a loyal customer base.
Looking ahead, Univers Apicole plans to go beyond honey production and beekeeper training. Dacheline envisions forming partnerships with other businesses in the sector and opening a workshop for manufacturing beekeeping equipment to reduce reliance on imports. Her dedication and vision for beekeeping in Haiti make her an inspiring role model for young entrepreneurs in the country. By winning Chanpyon Lakay, she joins a network of young changemakers who are using innovation to transform their communities and contribute to Haiti’s sustainable development.
Dacheline Joseph: Yon Chanpyon nan Apikilti an Ayiti
Dacheline Joseph, ki genyen Chanpyon Lakay 2025, se yon antreprenè ki gen anpil pasyon pou elvaj, espesyalman apikilti (elvaj abèy). Li remake gen gwo demann pou myèl an Ayiti, men anpil kiltivatè pa konnen kijan pou pwodui li nan bon kondisyon. Se poutèt sa li kreye Univers Apicole. “Mwen vle pwodui bon myèl ak lasi epi ede lòt apikiltè aprann kijan pou fè l nan bon jan kondisyon,” li eksplike.
Avèk Univers Apicole, Dacheline ap ankouraje yon apikilti modèn an Ayiti. Travay li ap ede anviwònman an paske plis abèy vle di plis flè ak polinizasyon. Biznis li a kreye djòb epi ede mache myèl la grandi.
“Konkou sa ban nou ankadreman, li fè plis moun konnen biznis nou, epi li bay espwa pou nou jwenn èd pou grandi,” li di. Gras ak sa, li vle ogmante pwodiksyon li, amelyore anbalaj myèl la, epi kenbe plis kliyan fidèl.
Nan lavni, Univers Apicole vle fè plis pase sèlman pwodui myèl ak fòme apikiltè. Dacheline gen vizyon pou mete biznis li nan patenarya ak lòt antrepriz epi ouvri yon atelye pou fabrike materyèl apikilti olye pou yo toujou achte yo lòt bò. Li se yon egzanp pou tout jèn antreprenè ayisyen ki vle ede chanje Ayiti. Avèk Chanpyon Lakay, li rantre nan yon rezo jèn k ap sèvi kominote yo ak inisyativ inovatif pou devlopman peyi a.
